Overview

St Peter's prides itself on offering an unparalleled student experience by providing a broad spectrum of opportunities across a range of academic environments.

The school offers over 65 subjects to cater for the different needs and interests of our students. The dynamic curriculum is constantly evolving to meet the needs of a rapidly changing world.

The Anglican special character of the School is reflected in the curriculum, with Religious Education a core subject at all levels for the majority of pupils.

Qualifications

With a variety of pathways available to them, St Peter's students are empowered to make good choices.

We are the only Waikato school offering the internationally recognised International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma, together with traditional National Certificate in Educational Achievement (NCEA) qualifications and Cambridge International Examinations (IGCSE) for Mathematics, Business Studies and Physical Education.

Subjects offered from the National Qualifications framework include subjects overseen by Industrial Training Organisations (ITOs), such as:
  • Agriculture
  • Business Studies
  • Equine Studies
  • Furniture Making
  • Hospitality
  • Outdoor Education
  • Tourism
For subjects overseen by ITOs, credits can contribute towards both NCEA and ITO Certificates.

Our Philosophy

There is more to education than qualifications. Problem solving and creative thinking skills are current goals for all academic subjects, with a view to establishing these as skills for life.

St Peter’s encourages students to set themselves personal goals of excellence in all they do - academic, cultural, sporting, interpersonal relationships, leadership and citizenship.
